The National Kannada Education Society (NKES), established in 1939 at the behest of Bharat Ratna Sir M. Visvesvaraya — the then Dewan of the Princely State of Mysore and a key architect of modern India — has a distinguished legacy in the field of education. NKES is a registered Society under the Maharashtra Societies Act, 1860 (Reg. No. 973/1939-40) and is also registered as a Charitable Trust under the Bombay Public Trusts Act, 1950 (Reg. No. F-188 (BOM)). It is officially recognized as a Linguistic Minority Institution by the Government of Maharashtra.
Located in Wadala (West), Mumbai, the NKES Group of Institutions spans across multiple levels of education — including Pre-Primary, Primary, Secondary, Junior College, and Degree College — all within a single integrated campus. Over the decades, NKES has successfully fulfilled its mission of imparting quality education. Now, with the growing demands of a dynamic global business environment and the accelerating role of technology, the Society has taken a progressive step by launching an Institute of Management aimed at nurturing future-ready business professionals.
The vision of NKES is to build world-class educational infrastructure, foster an enriching learning environment, and offer opportunities that empower students to compete and excel on a global stage. With this commitment, Sir M. Visvesvaraya Institute of Management Studies and Research was established — a premier management institute in Mumbai — to meet industry expectations and inspire the ambitions of students seeking to build successful careers in business management and leadership.
